Who am I?

WHO  AM  I?

That you Lord should ask me…..

Exodus 3;11 Jeremiah 1;7-8. Isaiah 6;8

A thought came into my mind a while back, how God uses us in different circumstances.  In the Bible, there were many who balked at the suggestion of taking a position of leadership to lead God’s people out from danger or being used as a mouthpiece for God’s word.

Being given a position or a job that we feel unable to fulfil can cause us to doubt our own abilities, when I was training as a Nurse, I was at times “dropped in at the deep end” as it were!

It was a case of sink or swim, but as I look back, I can see, that despite the feeling of apprehension and fear,  by the time I had completed the task, I came out stronger, wiser and more confident in my ability to cope.

When God asks us to do, go or face a situation, we may feel totally inadequate, but we only have to accept and take the first step in faith, God will do the rest, within us will be every resource we will ever need brought to us by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

And so, I wrote the following:-

Who Am I?

That you Lord, despite my imperfections,

Could place me,

where,

Through me,

You can show to others

Your Great Love and mercy.

It’s not in me,

as I am,

To do this myself,

I am a sinner, saved by your Grace,

 Yet, you Love me,

and as I let your life,

dwell deep

Within my heart

Then, let it be your spirit coming through,

Not me.

If you should choose a path for me,

One

I would not choose myself,

Be it illness

Or to be uprooted from

A place secure,

Or to stay where I am,

Despite facing hostility

And oppression,

I pray

Dear Lord,

I would submit, to your will,

And be willing

For your plan,

to be lived out in my life.

I know without a doubt,

Your deep and wonderful Love,

Will surround me on every side,

Above me and under me,

So, I can proclaim your wonderful Gospel,

And that your name can be glorified and honoured,

And your beautiful gift of Grace could be held out to everyone,

No one Lord is beyond your amazing love.
